2011 Winner – Game Face by 23rd Key
The winning stencil is based on a photo taken by Jesse ‘Manuel Exposure’ Booher at the Great Southern Slam (Roller Derby) tournament in 2010. The portrait features one of the Victorian Roller Derby Leagues fiercest jammers, Kittie Von Krusher.
23rd Key began her foray into stencil art in 2005, and has spent most of her time bent over a table cutting stencils ever since. With a background in printmaking and audio engineering, and a graphic design degree, she is working to further develop her photo-realistic style. 23rd Key takes no short cuts, spending up to 6 months on any one piece. She hand carves each doily-like layer, and her attention to detail has become a trademark of her work.⠀
